Miley Cyrus – Younger Now Album (Zip Download)
Though she’s the daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus and goddaughter of Dolly Parton, Miley Cyrus’ image isn’t typically associated with the country genre.
We’ve seen her begin as Disney pop sensation Hannah Montana and slowly transform into the twerking “It” girl who delivered house party hip-hop tracks.
With all the changes, it’s easy to forget that Miley is a child of country royalty; however, her new album Younger Now has reminded the world of her Nashville roots.
The 11-track project arrived Thursday night, nearly five months after she dropped its lead single “Malibu.” Younger Now is a big shift from her last two releases—2013’s Bangerz and 2015’s Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz; however, it still has that Miley edge—just with a lot more twang.
Miley spoke about the album and her new sound during a recent interview with NPR.
“I think when you are a teenager, young adult, you’re trying so hard to be cool or to prove something or to be something away from who you’ve been as a kid.
And I guess as I’ve gotten older—what Younger Now says is, even though it’s not who I am, I’m not afraid of who I used to be,” she explained.
The 24-year-old singer also told Zane Lowe she had written the album completely sober, which helped during the recording process.
“For me, I’m back in that cycle of I want to work really hard. I’m just working so, so hard right now that I need all the energy and I need my brain to be fully there to be able to articulate exactly what I want to say about this record and what I want this record to represent,” Miley said. “[…] I’m ok. I’m good.
This is just like I said of not having me being on a wrecking ball on my tombstone. This isn’t what makes me. I’m so complete without any of this shit.
I’m so much more and I am so much more complete than these headlines, these records, these number ones, whatever. I love my life and the fact that I’m just alive.”
